Project Management Advisor Roles and Responsibilities
The PMA is assigned to agency projects that meet the SCIO criteria and is responsible for providing support to help to ensure the success of projects and for notifying the SCIO if there are barriers that will impact the ability of the project to be successful.
PMA Assignments
Key PMA Activities include:
- Interview PMs and assess their capabilities to manage assigned projects
- Provide counsel to agencies and approvers at gate review
- Make recommendations to EPMO Director on gate approvals
- Ensure agency is prepared for upcoming phases
- Attend project meetings
- Identify and log issues and risks in the PPM tool
- Spearhead workgroups/training
- Recommend corrective action and, if necessary, escalate troubled projects
- Mentor Project Managers
- Provide information on assigned projects at weekly project approval meetings and facilitate communication on open action items
- Meet quarterly with SCIO
- Provide input to agencies on the planning phase of projects
- Review RFPs (SOW) and contracts to ensure project management work requirements are represented properly
- Facilitate meetings with Statewide IT procurement and the statewide architecture team
